How To Make Amp Turn Off When Car is OFF

Why does my amp stay on when my car is off?

A car amp should turn off when you take the key out of the ignition. If its still stays powered on when the engine and stereo is off, before you know it you will have a dead battery the next morning. What you have probably have done is connected the remote wire to a source that always provides power. This can easily be performed by accident if you have connected it to the wrong type of wire on your car stereo. The remote wire is fitted to a car amplifier to tell it when to turn off and on. You will need to recheck were you have connected it and ensure that it is connected to the correct wire.

1) Remove the car stereo from the dashboards din slot.

2) Check which wire the remote is connected to on the back of the wiring harness. Test if the volts go out with the key by using a multimeter to measure it.

3) If you notice it provides voltage even when the car is off you have found the problem.

4) You will need to now identify the correct wire. On most wiring harness plugs it is either a blue or blue and white stripped colored wired. You will need to connect the remote wire going into the amp to this wire that is described.
