How To Setup LPF On a Car Amplifier

Setting up the LPF can be tricky at first, but today we are going to help you understand how it works. An LPF filter can be used on a car amplifier that is connected to a subwoofer to stop it playing vocals and anything above the sub frequency range. This will make your sub sound much more efficient and play bass with more authority. The low pass filter is only designed for subwoofers and should not be really used for car door speakers that are for mids and highs. This control makes no difference to how loud the sound is like with the gain, however it changes the way the bass sounds and how it blends in with the rest of the car audio system.

1) There should be a switch on your car amp. You will need to flick it into the LPF mode.

2) Find the adjustable dial on the amp that is labelled as Low Pass Filter. You will see that there will be different frequency HZ numbers around it.

3) Play a music track on your car stereo and tune this to around 80HZ. Increase or decrease slightly depending on your bass preference to how you like it to sound.
