How To Fix Car Subwoofer Humming Buzzing Sound / Stop unwanted interferance

An car audio subwoofer is meant to play clean and deep bass. Sometimes, engine nose can be picked up by the car subwoofer, which can increase as you press the acceleration pedal. This can lead to an buzzing or humming noise picked up by your car subwoofer when the volume is low or the subwoofer is not playing. This can become annoying and you're probably already searching the internet on how to stop the buzzing from your car speakers. There are many factors that can contribute towards this problem, the first being poor RCA cables. The cheap free RCA cables provided in a car amplifier wiring kit are generally poorly made, they don't have any metal foil shielding around the small wires inside, this making interference easily to get leaked inside. An good set of RCA cables will cost around $10 for one pair or £8 in the UK, stinger make good RCA cables.

You also need to make sure that the RCA cable is run the opposite side to were the red 12 volt power wire and blue remote wire is. For example, RCA cable on right side and power and blue remote wire on left side. What tends to happen is the power wire can leak out interference to the RCA cables and can cause unwanted buzzing heard from your car subwoofer. Another solution you can try is to turn the gain down on the amplifier, the higher it is the most noise will be introduced into the system. Turn the gain down on the amp and increase the bass and treble or equaliser settings on the car stereo to bring the sound out. This trick should help minimise any kind of buzzing being heard through car speakers or subwoofer.

You can also purchase an inline noise filtration circuit that connects inline with the RCA cables you connect to your car amplifier. So the input RCA goes into the noise filter and the other end connects into your car amplifier. This can prevent buzzing and is an good solution in most cases, as it fixes any potential grounding issues with your vehicles wiring. But in some rear cases it may not provide any benefit. Also recheck your ground, poor grounding location can cause your car amplifier to make buzzing sounds. You need to make sure the ground is connected directly to the cars chassis the floor and not connected to some welded tin added to the car. I usually try grounding directly to the seat belt bolt. The grounding area has to be sanded down so no paint blocks electrical contact.
