How To Install PAC CF-1 Crossflow Cooling Fan To Car Amp

If your car amplifier is overheating, you will need to connect a cooling fan to ensure that components inside are kept cool. If you don't take action now, it will most likely result in a blown car amp due to the heat building up inside and damaging the transistors. Now the PAC CF-1 Cross Flow Fan is great for stealth installations because it blends in with the interior unlike a computer fan that used for a case that has bright LED lights. This type of fan is really great if your car amplifier is not placed in a well ventilated location such as underneath the seat. Places like Sonic Electronix price them well for around a thirty bucks or you can get hold of them on ebay. The design itself is really intelligent to say the least, using a small 12 volt vdc crossflow fan that directly blows air out. It also got mounting brackets screws on both sides to help you have more options of mounting it. If you can't seem to find the PAC CF-1 Crossflow Fan, you can purchase the Xscorpion tf8 or one made by stinger. They are made my different companies but all work the same and provide one main purpose which is to cool down your electronics such as your car amp that is suffering from overheating problems.

1) Decide where to mount your crossover fan. The best place is fitting it onto a mounting board just above the car amps so cold air blows directly onto it. When you are fitting it all you need to do is mark up the screw holes with a marker pen and drill into them. Then fit appropriate size screws into the holes to secure the cooling fan into place.

2) Now you will need to wire it. There are two options you can wire it directly to a 12 volt source so that it spins all the time at full power. This can be done by tapping into a source of power into the cars electrical system. We recommend the easiest way would be to connect it with the car amp, as it also runs quieter making less fan noise which is noticeable at low volumes. That way the fan will turn on when you turn on the car amp and turn off as well it a timely manner.

3) The PAC CF-1 crossflow fan will have two attached wires, red being positive and black being negative. Connect the red wire from the fan into the remote terminal in the amp that will have a small blue wired connected inside.

4) Connect the black wire from the crossover fan into the ground terminal in the car amp. Now when you place the key in the ignition and power on your car stereo, the fan will also come on at the same time. It will also stop when your turn off your car stereo which is why we suggested this way of making the connection with the car amp.
