If you are aware that your car amplifier fails to turn on during cold weather the best way to prevent this is to start your car every couple of days. This will allow the electrical current to travel through the amp and keep the circuits going, including the car battery stating charged. Normally, the main cause to why a car amp is not working during the cold weather is because of a dead battery. If you have left your car stud up for a few weeks chances are your car amp is not going to power on. The voltage on the battery will not be enough to power up the car amp, as it needs anywhere between 12 and 14.4 to work. The best solution would be to charge up the car battery using a battery charger. If the car can start, then it could be a loose connection or bad weak rusted ground. Since in most cases car amps are made to work in cold environments as the manufacturers have designed them in such a way to with stand cold temperatures.
1) Remove your car battery from the front hood.
2) Place it into a well ventilated open area such as the workbench in your garage.
3) Attach the crocodile clips onto the battery terminals from the charger. Ensure that you connect them the right way round positive with positive and negative with negative.
4) Now that you have connected your car battery to a battery charger, all you need to do now is turn on the charger. Leave it on for a couple of hours, the indicator on it will tell you when to unplug it when its charged up.
