If you notice that your car audio system has lost volume and clarity overtime, you may come to the conclusion that there is something wrong with your car amp. There are many different settings and controls that have an impact on how loud your car subwoofer will play. If you have adjusted these without doing your research on what they do to your system, you will assume that your car amp is not as loud as it should be, therefore your subs will not hit hard. Today we are going to explain why your subs are not hitting hard anymore to help them play louder.
1) Check the subwoofer level. If you have an aftermarket car stereo there will be a separate option found inside the audio settings. You can adjust it by increasing or decreasing the levels to how loud you want your sub to play from the front of the vehicle. Setting it at a higher position will make your subwoofer louder because a more stronger RCA signal will be sent to the amp.
2) Check the gain on the amp. If you have trying to fine tune your car amp, you might have turned this down by accident. If you do this will also make your subwoofer less loud. The best way to tune this is to play a bassy song and slowly turn it up stopping when you hear any kind of distortion heard. Since you don't want to turn it up all the way to the fullest because that will make the subwoofer play in most cases a distorted music.
3) Check the LPF. This is a low pass filter that is placed on the car amp and on the car stereo to stop any vocals voice or treble going to the amp and playing through sub You will need to ensure that it is turned on and set to around 80HZ to make your car stereo play bass louder. Setting it any lower will reduce the loudness of your car subwoofer.
