If you have a powerful car audio amplifier, then its most likely to have a cooling fan. This basically blows cold air into the inside of it to cool down the transistors and other related components. This will help on how to keep the amp cool in the trunk and stop it from overheating during long term use. Now due to the nature of how a cooling fan works, a buzzing or humming sound can be heard when its cooling down the car amp. This can be apparent when you are listening to your car audio sound system on low volume placed on the car stereo. Now the best way to make the car amp fan queiter is to lubricate the motor bearings. This will help make the fan operate much more smoother reducing the car amp making a loud fan noise.

1) Disconnect the car amplifier from your car. Remove the power, ground, remote, speaker and RCA cables from it.

2) Now flip it the other way up, so that the bottom side is facing up. You should see small screws placed around the back panel. Get a Philips head screwdriver and remove them all.

3) Flip the amp the other way around and carefully lift off the top heatsink.

4) Depending on the design of the amp, the cooling fan will either be on the cover or fitted inside. Either way you will want to remove it from its mounting location.

5) Now that you have done that, look for the sticker placed in the middle of the fan. If you remove this, you will have access to the motor bearings.

6) Once you have removed the sticker, insert a couple of drops of lubricant oil into the fans inside in that small hole you see in the middle.
