How Do I Connect a Subwoofer to My Car AMP?

A subwoofer can provide you with extra bass. You can’t run a subwoofer of a car stereo, you will need more power to drive the voice coil. Subwoofers require anything from an minimum of 100 watts right to 1000 watts rms. Most headunit provide you with something around 25 watts, so you will need an external amplifier, preferable a mono block amplifier that class D. These are very efficient on the electrical side of your cars system and are cheap to buy. In order to power a make car amp work, you will need to wire it up using a wiring kit. This will contain all cables including a power, ground, remote and rca wires, everything you need to setup a car amplifier.

1) You will need to run the red power wire down your car connecting to the car battery positive terminal.

2) You will need to ground the car amp to the metal chassis using the back wire provided with the wiring kit.

3) Rca cables are require to provide music to the amp. Connect them from the back of car stereo output RCAs into the RCA inputs.

4) Now that you have provided the amp with power, you will need connect the remote wire to the blue wire on the car stereo into the remote terminal on the car amp.

5) All you need to do know is connect the speaker wire to the amp to the terminals on the sub box.
