If you are running multiple car subwoofers they will need to be functioning at the same phase. If a car subwoofer is out of phase, one speaker will be moving differently to the other causing an inbalance in the sound. In order to ensure that your car subwoofers are correctly setup with phase control, your car amplifier will allow you to adjust the phase to normal 0 or 180 reverse. With this you can fine tune the subwoofer phase alignment and do a speaker phase test in the car to see what works best for your setup. You want all of your subwoofers to be in sync with each other and move at the same time in the same direction. These instructions are given to you to help setup your phase control for your car subwoofer for the best sound and loudness.
1) Play a track on the car stereo and turn up the volume more than half way.
2) Open the trunk.
3) Look at the subwoofers. Do both of the cones move in and out with each other at the same time? If no is the answer then proceed to step 4.
4) Look on the car amplifier. Look for the phase switch.
5) Flick the phase switch on the amp to either 0 or 180 degrees depending on how you have wired your subwoofers. Flick between the two settings to help you find the perfect subwoofer phase control alignment from normal to reverse, since there is no right or wrong answer.
