If your car systems contains a small powered subwoofer installed from the factory, it will add a nice bonus of bass into your music. If you are after more bass without replacing speakers or adding big amplifiers and want to keep things stock, then you can fine tune the factory subwoofer. There are a few things that you can consider if you are looking for bass from your factory subwoofer in your car. We have found that works great is adding polyfil stuffing into the plastic enclosure the subwoofer is usually placed into. This basically tricks the speaker into thinking that its placed into the bigger box, so it will play the bass louder and will sound deeper. If you got a few old pillows that you no longer need, this modification will literally cost you nothing. We notice a significant difference in sound quality with cars fitted with a bose factory subwoofer into the trunk.
1) The factory subwoofer will be placed into the
trunk in a plastic enclosure. This is usually mounted in the side compartments,
most of the time it looks blended in with the interior.
2) Get a screwdriver and remove the screws
holding down the subwoofer in place.
3) If it makes it slightly easier for you,
disconnect the speaker wire from the terminals on the factory subwoofer.
4) Now get the polyfil white stuffing and place
it into the enclosure. Place it evenly inside in all corners so that the
subwoofer gets an even balance of enhanced sound.
5) Place everything back and put the screws back
in. Its time to test out the improvement of bass from your factory subwoofer.
You should with the right song notice more deeper rumbly kind of bass that is
louder with more of a punch.
If you are still not happy with the sound
improvement from your car audio system. Then we can only suggest you remove the
factory subwoofer for something big thats around a 1000 watts rms. Big bass
never comes in a small factor, this is when you got to consider trunk space
over bass.
