If your car speakers don’t work but your subwoofer is working and playing sound, it shows that the car stereo is outputting sound. So in most cases the headunit is not the fault to this kind of problem, it is likely to be a wiring issue of some sort. If your sub works but your speakers don't, then we have created this troubleshooting article to see if you can fix things at home.

car speakers not working car amp 4 channel

1) Check if external amp is getting power. If the car amp is not getting any power, your car speakers will not work. See if you can see the power light come on when you start your car. If you don't then check the power, ground and remote wires.

2) Check the RCAS cables. If you’re a using an external 4 channel amplifier to power up your front and rear speakers, ensure that they are connected to the right inputs on the amp. The front set that goes into the front RCA outputs on the car stereo need to go into the front inputs on the car amp. The same goes for the rear, if you have not connected these correctly or into a wrong connector the sound will not come through and into your car amp. This can cause your sub to work but your speaker to have no sound.

3) Check the speaker wire. The speaker wire can sometimes not be securely fitted into the screw terminals of the amp and can come off creating a short. This can place your car amp in protect mode and will not make your speakers work. Check all the speaker wiring is clean and tidy on the car amp or the back of the car stereo. Check the connections on the back of the speakers as well, ensure that each connector on the back of the terminals are secure. This is because it could come off and touch the other terminal and create a short, stopping your amp from playing music. You can only see this when you remove the speaker and check each one individually.

4) Gain. This is sometimes mistaken for a volume control by people that are new into the car audio game. The gain is used to match the signal with the amp that is coming from the RCA cables. Check the gain for the front and rear speakers on your car amp, since there is a small possibly that you have turned it down by accident. You might not have done but it’s essential to check.

Hopefully your car speakers are working with your subwoofer, if your car speakers are still not working and your sub is, chances are the car amplifier mosfets are blown out. Try swapping out the car amplifier with a different one that works. If you are driving your car speakers off the car stereo again replace it with a replacement to see if it works. If all else fails, then your car speakers are blown this can happen from overpowering them or cranking them up too high with lots of distortion.
Are your car subwoofers working but your speakers are not? Have your door speaker stopped working, the sub works but the speakers don't? You need to check if the amp is getting power and the gain is not fully turned down.
