How To Install Car Amp Fuse Holder On Red Power Wire

how to install amp fuse holder

A fuse is very important in any kind of electrical circuit in car audio. Its there to protect the car amp and the vehicles electrical system in case something does go wrong. If you are making your own custom power and ground cables, you will need to add an inline fuse holder that can be bought from shops such as Halfords. You need to ensure that you have the correct 30, 40, 50, 60, 100 or 200 amp fuse that fits in the holder to ensure maximum protection. If you have a fuse that is rated lower than the current that the car amp is pulling, then you will blow the fuse, if the fuse is too high it will provide no benefit.

1) Measure up 30 cms of length on the red power wire and cut it off so that you have one long and short pieces of cable.

2) Unstrip the plastic insulation from both ends of the wires.

3) You will need either a screwdriver or Allen wrench key to remove the screws found on the left and right sides of the fuse holder.

4) Insert one end of the short cable into the fuse holder and the longer cable into the other end. Using your tool tighten up the connection to secure them in place.

5) Now that you have installed the fuse holder onto the red power wire for your car amp, all you need to do is fit the fuse inside the holder. Then you can attach it to the power terminal on the car battery.
