How To Set Bass Boost Frequency on My Car Amp

If you want to get more bass from your car subwoofer, you can use the bass boost feature fitted to your car amplifier. Basically what this does is make your bass sound louder at a certain frequency, so you can adjust it to how you would want the bass to sound like. You can either set it to make the bass boomier / louder or sound more deeper. Some people say that using the bass booster on your car amp is a bad idea, i strongly disagree because its how you use it so its neither good or bad. Obviously if you just get a screwdriver and turn up the frequency, along with the DB level all the way up its going to sound like crap because of the bass will get distorted. Setup up correctly, it can provide a nice extra boost to the bass and make your car subwoofer louder without any major significant upgrades being made.

1) On most car amps there will be a bass booster DB level and frequency. Set the frequency to around 40HZ for more depth of deep bass quality. If you want more extra gain in spl, more punch and a kick in your seat set it around 50-60 HZ. These two combinations have been tested to adjust the car amp for best sound.

2) Now you will need to adjust the DB level to avoid clipping and distortion. So play a bassy track on your CD player, setting up your equalizer settings and turn up the volume to the maximum. Now go back to the amp and find the bass booster DB level. Adjust this slightly going higher and stop until you hear distortion when you hear any kind of possible degradation in the sound quality.
