If you installed a Kenwood car stereo into your vehicle and it keeps saying the error message 'CALL' on the screen display it will interrupt your music playback each time it happens. Your Kenwood car stereo says call because its thinking that your dialling into your phone and taking a call, so it stops any sound coming from the speakers. If you want to fix your Kenwood car stereo that keeps saying call on the display, you will need to inspect the telephone mute wire on the harness. This if not well insulated off can touch anything metal around the headunit or surroundings and ground creating a short.
1) Turn off your car stereo and take the keys out of the ignition.
2) Now you will need to remove your Kenwood car stereo from the din slot. This will require to use special din tools or alternative flat head screwdrivers at both ends to release it from the metal cage.
3) Once its out, look for the brown wire in most cases it should have a small label attached to it that will say either Mute or Tel Mute.
4) Now that you have found the wire, snip off any copper braid of the telephone call wire and wrap it tightly in PVC electrical insulation tape. This will prevent any conductivity with the other metal objects or cables that are around, stopping your Kenwood car stereo going into call mode randomly all the time when driving. This should now stop the Kenwood radio call error problem from occuring now.
I need another way to fix Kenwood car stereo it displays call
