How To Set Crossover Frequency For Car Audio System On Car Amp

In order for your car subwoofer to sound the best, its essential to setup the crossover frequency for the type of music you listen to. Now a crossover in simple terms is a setting that controls what type of sound gets filtered out. How a subwoofer crossover works is that it blocks any treble going to it and only send bass to it. So you don't hear vocals coming out of your car subwoofer. Realistically, you can choose to setup the subwoofer crossover frequency anywhere between 60HZ and 100HZ. If you want more deeper sounding bass then its best to tune it low and if you want more punchy louder bass then its ideal to set it high.

1) To start things off play a bass intensive song from your car CD player. Something like a Lil Jon or E40 tracks that steave meade designs plays loud, also known as meade916 on youtube when he does demos.

2) Open the trunk and find the mounting location of the amp, its most cases its found on the back of the enclosure or rear seats.

3) Find the 'LPF' crossover settings, also known as Low Pass Filter. You should find a small switch that will activate this function.

4) Now you should also see an adjustable screw that is labelled as 'LPF'. This is the unit that controls what frequency the subwoofer crossover can be set to. Adjust this dial anywhere between 60HZ and 100HZ depending on what kind of music you listen to on a daily basis. Remember you can always have the option to tune it again.
