How To Repair Broken Car Amp RCA Inputs Jack

If you keep disconnecting and reconnecting RCA cables to the jacks on the amp they will eventually break off. The RCA inputs are used on the car amp to pick up the music signal that is sent from the stereo. If your RCA jacks on your car amp are broken off its very important to ensure that they are repaired. This is because sometimes they can affect the sound quality, therefore bringing interference such as buzzing and humming down your speakers.

For removing a broken male RCA plug:

1) Get a small nail or drill bit and heat up the end using a lighter.

2) Using a nose plier bend the end slightly.

3) Heat it again until the end tip becomes red.

4) Quickly insert it into the middle area of the RCA socket with the broken male plug inside and pull it out. Hopefully, the broken off metal connector will come attached onto the small metal object you placed inside.

For repairing a broken RCA input socket on the amp:

1) Remove all of the screws found at the bottom of amp.

2) Flip it over and remove the top metal cover.

3) Look inside and find the broken RCA input connection. You might need to perhaps remove the actual circuit board for easier access.

4) Get a soldering iron and reheat the points from the RCA connector onto the PCB board. This might be enough to fix the current one because the solder joints sometimes become brittle when you keep pulling out the actual RCA cables quickly with force. However, if the RCA input jack socket needs replacing, simply reheat the solder points to remove it, place your new one in and resolder it back in.
