Its important that there is a fuse placed in between the power wire that provides the 12 volts to your car amp. This will protect the cars wiring and the amp from anything electrical that could go wrong, this can be anything from an overload or a short circuit. If you have purchased a big roll of wire separately because it is cheaper, you may be required to fit a fuse holder yourself if it doesn't come with one out of the packet. You will need to ensure that it can contain a fuse that will protect your system, this can be worked out by using a free car amp fuse calculator tool online. Once you have your correct rated fuse, along with the holder, then all you need to do is fit it.
Before you perform this install to your vehicle, ensure that the power wire is not connected to car battery to be safe. If it is use a socket wrench to remove it from the post.
1) You will need to ensure that you fit the fuse holder as close a possible to the car battery.
2) Split the wire into two halfs from the start of the wire cutting down to about 50 cm.
3) Unstrip the insulation of both power wires that you will have.
4) You will need to connect these to the fuse holder one end to another. You may require ring metal ring terminals depending on the type of fitment the fuse holder requires.
5) Insert one end of the red power wire into the top end of the fuse holder. Then connect the other longer remaining wire into the other end. Tighten them down with a screwdriver.
6) Now that the fuse holder is fitted to the car amp power wire all you need to do is fit the fuse.
