How To Get Rid Of Engine Noise In Car Stereo Using a Suppressor Audio Filter

If you are hearing strong amounts of engine noise coming through your car stereo speakers, a noise suppressor could be the answer to your solution. This is basically a small box that has an internal circuit that keeps unwanted interference that creates noise into your car audio system. Before you consider this, it is recommended that you check that you have properly grounded the headunit and if you are using an amplifier that the RCA cables are not running on the same side as the power wire going down the side panel. You can pick up a cheap car audio noise filter on places like Amazon or Ebay for around ten pounds. The ones that work for car radios are the ones that are rated at 10 or 12 amps. In fact yes we have tested it at the audio shop and they do help towards reducing electrical interference. This should work if the engine noise is coming from the alternator. Personally, i think that this is the best cost effective way to getting rid of engine noise from your car stereo, so why not give it a try?

1) Now most noise filters come with three colored wires, red, yellow and black. Start of by attaching the black ground wire the car radio chassis.

2) Now the second part will involve you to connect it inline with the 12 volt red power wire found inside the car radio din slot. So connect the red wire from the noise filter to the fuse side and the remaining yellow wire to the stereo, so its kinda like creating an bridge across.
