Once you have your camera, you will need a suitable location to fit it into the back of your car. You can either fit it into the rear window or make a small hole in the bumper and mount it in there. Its best that you get the smallest sized as possible the newer style ones to ensure that professional stealthy look from outside, since the older style ones are very bulky and in your face. Now lets get to wiring the reverse camera: you will need to obtain power and connect it as a video source. You could add a switch if want just like in the wiring diagram shown below but it is optional.
1) You will notice that the reverse backup camera itself has three wires, one yellow video RCA plug, red and black wires for power. Lets start of by connecting the black ground wire back to the negative terminal on the car battery. If there is another closer by location, you could connect it to the black wire on the wiring harness of your car stereo to save time.
2) Next you will need to connect the red wire to the reverse light found inside the back taillights. This can be done by removing the 12 volt wire that provides power to the bulb and tapping into the wiring and soldering the red camera wire together. You will also need to connect a red reverse detector lead from the car stereo wiring harness to this same wire. So in total, you will have two wires going back to the red wire found on the parking camera, one from the reverse light and the other from the stereo telling it when to go into reverse mode.
3) You will need to make the video connection this is the easiest part of the install. What you need to do is look at the different pairs of RCA's on the back of the wiring harness. You will need to look for one that is yellow that is labelled as video / picture input. Once you have found the correct one, plug the yellow camera RCA plug into this socket.
