How To Make a Ground Wire For a Car Stereo From Scratch

Where To a Put Ground Wire For Car Stereo?

Now sometimes what can happen is the existing ground location for the car stereo can become weak. This can cause your car stereo to not power on due to having a poor electrical connection. Now in order to overcome this problem, you will need to find a new grounding spot location. There are two ways that you can ground a car stereo either directly onto the negative battery terminal or on the cars metal chassis. The easier way would be to find an existing location that is metal based and mount the wire on there. Now the best wire to create a brand new ground for your car stereo would be to use 18 gauge sized wire. The thicker the better it is because there are more copper stands inside providing a better electrical connection.

1) Look for a close location to the car stereo that has an existing bolt or screw located into the car chassis.

2) Once you have found the appropriate grounding area, get some fine grit sandpaper and scrub the area down. This will remove any remaining paint particles that could be covering up the bear metal of the cars chassis, therefore providing a stronger ground.

3) Now you will need to attach the ground wire to the metal bolt. The best way would be to use a small ring terminal and fit that onto it.

4) All you need to do is relocate the ground wire into the din slot so that it accessible to be connected to the black ground wire found the wiring harness.
