Yes it is very important to charge a car audio power capacitor before installation because you will need to transfer some energy into its capacity bank before hooking it up. If you don't charge your power cap then it will not run at its full potential which is why some people say they don't work or have not noticed any different in performance. Now power caps do work as they store charge and release it when the amplifier requires it on demand. They are the second best option compared to a deep cycle battery for stiffing voltage drop and stopping your car headlights dimming when the bass hits. It is also best to install the power cap as close as possible to the amplifier and ensure you use nice thick 0 gauge wire for best current transfer. Once its charged for the first time of use you don't need to keep charging it again.
1) Remove the fuse that is placed in the holder thats connected into your red 12 volt power wire.
2) Connect the power cap into the wiring of the amp. See my other guide for instructions.
3) Now connect the two wires from the light bulb into the fuse holder creating a bridge across.
4) Hold the bulb wires in place from one side to the other until the light goes from bright to off. This means the charge has been transferred to the power cap. You can now reinsert the fuse you remove earlier on.
