How To Fix Car Amplifier No Sound Coming Out of Car Speakers

A car amplifier is required to provide amplification to your car speakers or car subwoofer. This is to drive them to their full potential. If you’re getting no sound out of your car speakers, the first thing to check is the power light on your car amplifier. Is it powered on?? The light should be green. Red usually means something is wrong, as the car amplifier is gone into protect. This can happen for several reasons, I am going to go through them with you today. The first thing you need to understand is the car amplifier getting power? Get a multi meter and probe the 12 volt point on the car amp. It should be getting a reading of 13.7 volts or more. Probe the remote turn on terminal as well, the remote wire should receive anything from 5 volts to 12 volts when the key is switched to the ignition on position.

If you are getting a zero reading from the power wire, check the inline fuse found near the positive side of the car battery. Remove the fuse and inspect, the thin wire found inside the middle of the fuse should be not broken if the fuse is OK. If the small wire found inside the fuse is snapped, this will break the circuit allowing the car amplifier not to power on resulting in no sound. The best method is to troubleshoot the problem that caused this in the first place. Check all the connections and wires around the car amplifier area are securely tight and separated from each other. Once you have done this, also check the grounding location where the car amplifier sits. The car amplifier ground should be clean, meaning the paint around the mounting surface should be sanded away to bear metal. This will ensure the ground is optimal for sending proper voltage circulation to the amps internal power supply.

Also, make sure the RCA cables are connected firmly into the RCA 'INPUT' of the car amplifier and ensure that they are not mistakenly connected to the RCA 'OUTPUT' on a car amplifier. To verify if the RCA cables are faulty or not sending signal to the car amplifier resulting in no sound, get yourself a 3.5mm jack to RCA cables lead. Then plug the headphone jack looking plug into a device such as an mp3 player or smartphone and connect the other ends into the red and white RCA 'INPUTS' found on the car amp. Play a song from your portable device with the vehicle switched on, if the song plays then you fault with the RCA cable connection within the vehicle. The first thing to troubleshoot is to remove the headunit and inspect the RCA cable going either to the car of stereo or RCA line out converter.
