How To Fix Car Speakers That Dont Work

car speakers

The most common car audio problem is car speakers that don't work. Car speakers are an essential component used to create a car audio system, along with a tweeter. Some may install an additional subwoofer to get the extra bass from there music that standalone speakers fail to deliver. If your car stereo has power but no sound, then follow this guide to fix the car speakers that don't work in your vehicle today.

Is no sound coming from all your car speakers or just one? If you notice the sound is not coming from one side of your car either the front or back, then check the fader setting on your car stereo. Sometimes it can accidentally be set to the back, making no sound coming from the front car speakers. The fader should be set in the middle, so both the rear and front drivers are producing sound evenly across the car audio system that is installed.

If you're getting no sound from your car speakers at all, if you are using an external 4 channel amplifier make sure it is powered on and working. Locate the car amplifier install location and check to see if the power light is switched on. If there is no power, you have identified the problem. Firstly, check the fuse is not blown on the car amp, also check the power, ground and remote cables are firmly connected from start to finish, also check the connections on the back on the radio as well. If the remote turn-on lead, the blue wire from the back of the stereo is not securely attached, your amplifier will fail to get the signal to power on.

If the car amplifier is powered on but no sound, check the speaker wire connections on the terminals on the car amp. Is there a short? Has one wire come off? If so, then reconnect the speaker wire using a screwdriver. Also check the RCA cables are plugged in firmly, on the car amplifier, and from the back on the radio.

If you are not using a car amplifier and your car speakers don't work, make sure there is power going to the car stereo. If there is no power, then there is no sound. If this is the case, check the fuse on the car stereo and the fuse that provides 12 volts to the car stereo. If either one has blown, then replace it with the appropriate amp's fuse.

If your car stereo is powered on, then there might be a short at the back of the wiring harness if you are not using a 4 channel car amplifier. This can happen if the person that installed the car stereo had used insulation tape, as this comes off when the heat gets generated by the car's electrical system after a few years. Check all speaker wires, make sure they are firmly connected, and also make sure the wiring harness plug is connected firmly into the back of the radio.

I hope this guide has helped you fix your car speakers that don't work. If you want to ask us any other car audio related questions, then please contact us so we can help you.
