A CD changer is installed into older cars to allow you to stack up to 6 CD's in the back and listen to the cassette player in the front, that way you get the best of both worlds. Sometimes the cartridge or magazine box were all the discs go into can get stuck inside the multi changer CD player and won't pop out. If you don't hear any kind of mechanical noises when you press the eject button chances are there is no power going into it.
So check all the cables going from the back to the front are firmly inserted and check all the fuses. If there is a power going into the multi changer box, then the CD changer is stuck. This can happen if you have overloaded the CD changer cartridge or have forced in the box too quickly into the slot before it has prepared for it. Here is an old trick of the trade that most car audio shops use to remove a stuck CD magazine changer that works wonders.
1) Hold down the eject button on the front box.
2) While holding the button, forcefully tap the front of the CD changer cartridge using the handle of a screwdriver a couple of times.
3) The CD changer cartridge box should unclick from the slot and no longer be stuck.
Golden oldie. Worked like a charm. Light tap with handle of screwdriver and lo ‘n behold! Thanks so much!
