How To Fix Kenwood Car Stereo Keeps Going into Protect Mode

If you have a Kenwood car stereo fitted into the din slot in your vehicle and its stuck in protect mode no sound will play from the speakers. Now this can either happen because of the software on the chip that is corrupted and needs factory resetting or the speaker wires are shorting out. Now we have had a few Kenwood CD Player returned to us recently back to the shop that are having this issue. One of our technican looked at theses before returning them back to the manufacturer and was easily fixed by a quick factory reset.

This is the best quick fix to repair any Kenwood headunit that is stuck into protect mode:

1) Switch on the CD Player.

2) Remove the front panel.

3) Find the reset button and place something into it for 5 seconds.

4) Its should release itself from the protect mode and reset.

If that doesn't work then what you will need to do is check all the four speaker wire connections on the back of the wiring harness. This will involve you to remove it from the cars dashboard and check for each individual connection. This is very important to carry out because any of the audio wires could be touching each other tripping the radio to go into protect mode. If that doesn't work then its suggest to remove each speaker fitted into the car and look at the wires on the back to see if they are shorting out. This is possible because the vibrations from the bass can force the terminals off in the long term.
