If you have installed a Pioneer car stereo into your car and its not saving settings when you turn off the ignition terminating the power for a short time then it is wired incorrectly to an extent. This can become problematic when the time and date settings get erased all the time. This including your customised audio settings that are changed in the equalizer that take some time to get right. To make your Pioneer car stereo save its preset and other related settings, you will need to make a small quick adjustment to the wiring and change things around. The complete process should take you no longer then 5 minutes if you have the right tools handy.
1) Remove the headunit from the din slot.
2) Look at the rear of the stereo. You will see two important wires colored red and yellow.
3) I can assure you that one of them two wires is not connected together. In order for the car stereo to save settings into its memory, you will need to twist both the yellow and red wires together with the cars 12 volt wire. Ensure that you recover the wires using PVC electrical insulation tape or heatshrink to prevent anything shorting out later on and blowing out any fuses.
