The laser lens that is used to read data from the audio discs can become problematic when it is dusty. This is because it makes it hard for the information stored on the compact disc to be readable causing errors. If you have had your installed car stereo for sometime, it is recommend that you use a cheap quick and easy laser lens cleaning disc to clean the system. They don't cost much to buy, in the uk they are around £2-3 pounds, but did you know you can even get the cheapest one from poundland for £1. You could also manually clean, but this will involve you to open up your headunit which can become a risky procedure if you mess something.

Also if your car stereo is not mounted firmly into the dashboards din slot, it will be more prone to skipping because of it being more sensitive to vibrations. This can especially become a real problem if you are driving fast over speed bumps.

How to securely mount your car stereo:

1) Inside the din slot fit a mounting metal cage frame by slotting it in. This will allow the car stereo to securely stay in one place and prevent it from any further kind of movement.

2) Push the wires behind and place the car stereo into the din slot pushing it into the mounting cage. It should lock in when you have installed the CD player.

3) Add the outer surround plastic trim panel around the front faceplate.
