How To Connect Car Stereo To CD Changer BOX

If you have a old car stereo with a cassette tape deck in the front, you have the option to connect a  multi disc compact cd changer. This will allow you to have 5, 6 or a 10 disc changer in the trunk or glove box to handle your music on any CDS. These days on most cars you don't see them fitted much due to most vehicle owners seem to be using a smartphone with their headunit for music playback as times have changed. How a multi disc CD changer works is there is a cartridge that you fit inside the box that holds multiple CDS. You then control it via the front car stereo what disc it should load from the slot and it will play its that simple. If the car doesn't come with a CD changer but your car stereo is compatible with one, then you can connect and install it. The best place to mount one is inside the glove box if its small or in the rear trunk using some side brackets.

1) There will be two wires connecting to the CD changer in most cases. A pair of RCA cables to obtain the music signal from the box and another cable that provides power with communication to the car headunit.

2) Plug the CD changer box connecter from the cable into the back of the car stereo and also plug in the RCA cables matching the colors of the plugs and sockets. So for example red goes into red and white goes into white.

3) Now that connections are made you need to relocate the wires into either the glove box or the trunk. If you are going for the trunk option, you will need to push all the wires into the sides of the panels to hide them.

4) Once you have the wires going back to the location where you want to mount it, then you will need to connect the two cables into the sockets on the box.

5) Power on your car stereo and select the CD option. Then head back to it remove the cartridge and fill it up with discs.
