How To Fix JVC Car Check Wiring Then Reset Problem

If you are having problems with your JVC car stereo and its displaying a message on screen saying check wiring then reset, the functions will not be operational at all. The reason why the JVC radio detects this is because it notices that there is something wrong with the wiring either being something is shorting out or is crosswired. Once you have troubleshooted identifying the cause of the fault, you will then need to reset the JVC car stereo to factory settings to help it recognise the change.

1) You will need to remove the JVC stereo from the slot. This is so you can have clear access to the back to inspect the connections on the wiring harness.

2) There will be a wiring harness plug fitted into the radio. This will have a bunch of wires coming from it that are all sorts of colors. The main wires that you need to check is the power, ground and speaker wires.

3) Start off by looking at each wire individually, inspect the connection to ensure that its not touching any other wires. To make sure reinsulate all of the wires with heatshrink. If you have checked all the wires from the stereo side of things, there could be a short from wires connecting to the back of the speakers.

4) Remove each speaker from its panel by unscrewing it. Look behind it next two the magnet there will be two metal terminals with spade connectors on them. Ensure that these are firmly connected and are not close to perhaps touching each other, as this can confuse the radio into thinking there is a short causing the check wiring message to appear on screen.

5) Once you have done that and found the faulty, you will then need to quickly reset your JVC car stereo back to factory settings. Here is a guide that has been put together to help you with this.
