How To Make CD Player Stereo Turn OFF With Cars Ignition

If the CD Player in your car stays powered on when you turn off the cars ignition, it will drain the battery. This is because technically speaking the aftermarket CD player is still switched on and is receiving current. The reason why this problem is taking place in your vehicle is because you have wired the connections on the back harness incorrectly. You can do this repair yourself and little electrical knowledge is required, as the instructions are provided and tested for your own assurance today.

1) Remove the radio from the din slot.

2) Get access to the back wiring harness plug.

3) Ensure that you have connected the red wire to the yellow ignition wire coming from the car. This can be verified using a multimeter, if you key the ignition and you get a 12 volt reading and it goes off when you take the key out, you have identified the correct wire you need to connect the stereo with.

4) Using either heat shrink or PVC insulation tape to tidy up the exposed connections and to prevent any shorts happening during music playback when driving.
