When running a car audio shop many years ago, the common question I used to get asked a lot was how to make my car speakers louder without having a car amplifier. Now factory speakers have a limitation on how well they can perform and it’s the same with the factory radio. The first thing people often think is when adding a car amplifier, the hassle with the wiring and also with car amps in the back, automatically are under the impression there boot space is gone. You don't always have to add a car subwoofer to get a louder and overall improved sound in your car. In fact, adding a subwoofer into your car just adds more bass, but if you want to make your car speakers louder, then that is still possible.
You can add a micro four channel amplifier to make your car speakers louder, but compared to a proper 4 channel car amplifier the results are not going to be as good. Vibe is an UK car audio manufacturer and from my experience their car audio range is ok but not the best compared to rockford fosgate or alpine for example. Vibe used to be good back in 2004 around the early 2000s but now have turned into mass producing company that makes low quality products.
Vibe have come out with a vibe 65.4 car amplifier that is very small in size, no bigger than an DVD case and can usually fit in plug and play situations, depending on if you get the exact correct wiring harness for your car stereo, which can be troublesome. This is an ok solution and allows you to add more RMS power to the factory door speakers and to reduce distortion compared to powering your car door speakers from the factory headunit. There will be some improvement using the amplifier but not a lot. Changing your speakers would be a good combination with this cheap car amplifier. Component car speakers contain an aftermarket car tweeter and car speaker, along with a crossover box to increase clarity and sound quality. If fitted correctly in stock locations with correct speaker brackets you will notice an improvement in loudness and sound quality even without adding an amplifier. Changing your speaker wire to thicker bigger cables is also not going to add more power to your speakers, unless your are going to add an powerful car amplifier to go with it.
3 ways speakers are also good if you're on a budget because, they have many tweeters that can help produce louder treble and clear vocals built in within the speaker. Coaxial style speakers are a good choice for many car audio followers that want a loud sound. This is because they can add a coaxial speaker in the front with tweeters already built into them and on top of that you can add separate tweeters too in the factory tweeter locations. Overall, giving you that crisp loud and harsh treble that may appeal to an certain crowd.
Sound deadening is also something that you should consider because doors have many holes and spots that they tend to vibrate. You can get sound deadening material cheap from Ebay and you simply peel off the stick side and stick it down to any surface. You can use this on any part where there are holes in the car doors or panels metal. It will help reduce vibrations and noise and make sure the car speaker players louder and more efficiently. This will also help reduce road noise that comes into the car when driving it, which will make your car speakers sound louder at lower and higher volumes because the outer noise won't cancel out the speakers as much. You can also get foam rings that go around the car speaker, this allows the car speaker sound waves to be trapped in between the door car when it sits on top of it. So, all of the sound is going through the foam ring and out of the speak grill on the door card. This ensures that no sound gets lost and make the sound more focused. This increases the amount of bass your car door speakers play too.
