How To Test Car Audio Tweeters To Identify If They Are Working Correctly

Tweeters are fitted into all car audio system to handle the higher frequencies of the sound spectrum. If you notice that the tweeters in your car are making buzzing noises or one side is louder than the other, its recommended that you test each tweeter to see if they are both working correctly. This is because the tweeter could be blown out from overuse or from being overpowered. For this test all you require is a regular 9 volt or AA battery.

1) Disconnect the wires from the car tweeter that you want to test its functionality.

2) Attach one wire from the battery onto the (+) terminal and the other end onto the (-) terminal.

3) Keep touching the wires on the terminals intermittently. If you hear a crackle that indicates that the tweeter is in good working order. However, if you hear no sound then chances are the tweeter is damaged or blown and will need replacing.
