How To Stop The Rattling From a Subwoofer

If you have a subwoofer fitted into the trunk of your car, the vibrations that are created from the cone movement will transfer into annoying trunk rattle. If your are listening to your car bass audio system inside your car you tend to not notice the obnoxious rattling. Usually this sound can be heard more outside the car when you bump your music loud. It makes the sounds as if your car is going to fall apart and can interfere with gaining sound quality to the best standard. Now to stop trunk rattle the cheapest way is to use sound deadening proofing and apply it to the panels on your car. This stops subwoofer rattling because it helps dampen the sound waves.

1) Remove your subwoofer enclosure from your car. This will make it easier to work with as you will need to pull up the carpets.

2) Identify all the metal panels that are inside the trunk. Pull up the carpet that covers the spare wheel compartment and remove it out of the vehicle if you can.

3) You will need to apply sound deadening material inside the trunk lid and on the bottom floor. Start by pealing the sound proofing material into two halfs. The bottom side will have glue on it.

4) You may need to cut it with a blade to help form the exact shape that you want to cover.

5) To apply, simply press down the material with the glue surface facing downwards onto the metal panel. To secure it down you can use a small wallpaper roller to press it down to ensure that it sticks down properly. All you need to do is apply this same procedure for all of the panels to cover all the areas.
