If you like bass to sound louder in your car without upgrading the subwoofer, there are a wide range of things that you can consider to add more bass. More bass means more vibrations and louder SPL levels produced in your car which can give you more satisfaction listening to your music. If you are not happy with the amount of bass and want more out of your car subwoofer, you might want to look into the following ideas we have suggested for you. These have been tested and are always explained thoughtfully to our customers to help them fully understand how to get more bass from their car subwoofer. They always seem to be pleased with the results after applying the following to their car audio system by our on site technicians.

1) Slap your sub in a custom built ported box. Sealed tend to give you more of a accurate sound that is more punchy and refined, if compared to a vented box that gives you more boomy louder kind of bass. A ported box is a bit more complex to make and also takes more space in your trunk but the results you gain from it are totally worth the time, money and effort it costs to create out of MDF. If you want louder bass you want the slot or aero PVC port to be tuned around 45HZ.

2) Bridge your car amp. Most people are not aware that the car amplifier they connect to there sub can have an increased in rms power output if bridged, thats if its a two channel running on a single sub. What bridging is basically you are combining the two channels together to make one final large output. Check your specs for your amp in the user guide you should be able to identify if your car amp is compatible for it.

3) Use bass boost. Now this setting on a car amplifier should only be used if you know what you are doing. Switching on the bass boost and turning it up on your car amp will increase the frequency range to a higher DB usually around 50HZ. You need to tune to the bass boost carefully on your car amp to match the output of the sub. If you notice that the bass coming from the subwoofer sounds distorted then you will need to turn it down slightly. Since if you are sending a dirty clipped signal to the sub you will eventually blown out the voice coil in the long term of using it.
