If you tend to listen to more of rap and hiphop songs then you are going to want to have bass in your car to play with the beat of the song. Now installing a large subwoofer would be the solution to fulfil your bass needs, however some people tend to dislike the fact that they take up the room in the truck. This can be a problem if you have kids for a pram or supermarket shopping. Also the time and effort it takes to run the amp wires down the car can also be another reason to why somebody might be wanting to get bass in their car without having a subwoofer. Now you necessarily don't have to have a sub fitted into your cars trunk if you are wanting more bass. This is because there are other ways that you can consider to get more bass without a subwoofer. Today we will be going into more detail for you to help you with this.
1) Adjust the equalizer. If you have an aftermarket headunit, its most likely going to have a adjustable eq. This basically contains different sliders that focus on different levels of the music to adjust the treble and bass. The first slider that can be adjusted to the left is the one that controls the bass. On most its labelled as 50 or 60 HZ, this is the frequency that controls bass if you increase it higher it will add more bass to your existing car speakers.
2) Get some 6x9 speakers. The main reason why car audio enthusiasts install them into the back of the parcel shelf is to add more bass. This is because they are known to have a large cone surface area compared to normal speakers. This means more cone movement and air being pushed which results in the more bass to be produced in your car without a subwoofer. While you are at it you might as well install some 6.5 inch components as well to give you that midbass punch.
4) Add a 4 channel amp. Now if you want the most out of your aftermarket car speakers to sound to there full potential, then a car amp will be required. This is because most car headunits can not provide all the power the voice coils needs but they are fine for stock paper cone factory speakers. Most say on the front panel that they are 45X4 but that is max power not rms. If you are talking rms which is the most realistic fiqure in car audio, then it will be around 20-25 rms power.
