If you have just purchased a Pioneer car stereo and it prompts for a password when you are powering it on, you will need to reset the password. Now this is setup to prevent somebody stealing your headunit and using it. With this security lock nobody can operate it without knowing the correct code making it valueless to everybody and have no resale value. Now as soon as you disconnect the car battery, the CD Player will automatically assume that its been removed and the internal memory will be erased in a matter of seconds. The passwords that you should try is 0000 or 1234 as sometimes they might not be changed as the owner could have left them to default values. If you still can't get into the interface of the radio, then you will need to reset the password on your Pioneer car stereo. This method is not guaranteed to work for all models and only works on a minority, but still its considerable to try before sending it off to a expensive service centre to fix.
1) Power on the Pioneer car stereo.
2) Press the 'Eject' button 5 times.
3) This will place it into service mode.
4) Go onto the fourth option on the screen that says 'Reset Password Module' and tap accept.
5) Enter your new password and tap save.
6) The stereo will reboot and the new information that you entered will be saved. So now key off the ignition, restart the stereo and enter the new password.
