loud car subwoofer |
A car subwoofer is added into a car audio system to add more bass and low frequencies heard in your music. A car subwoofer will require an amplifier to power it up as the car stereo will not have an extra channel to add a huge speaker. Car stereos factory or aftermarket will have four channels, two for the front car speakers and two for the rear car speakers. If you have installed your car subwoofer into your car and want to get more bass out of it, there many things that you can consider to help you get the sound you want out of it. I used to work at a car audio shop many years ago and have all the knowledge to help you get the most sound out of your car audio system.
The enclosure is what makes 70% of the sound. If your car subwoofer is fitted into a cheap prefab box, then you are going to get cheap sound. Prefab subwoofer enclosures are not even made from MDF, usually from cheap chipboard covered in speaker cloth carpet. If you want to get more bass out of your car subwoofer, you will need to get a custom built enclosure. Each subwoofer has its own box requirements to get optimal sound out of the speaker. You can't simply get a subwoofer and stick it inside a random box, yes it will work and you will get bass, but the box is what makes the sound. Also, to note, sealed boxes are more for sound quality and a flat frequency response. If you want really loud bass out of your car subwoofer get a custom box made tuned to 35 HZ this will give you good spl and good low and high bass range. Ported boxes are more efficient in playing bass out loud, but they are also bigger in size and more complicated to design.
Bridge your car amplifier. If you have a two channel car amplifier, you can bridge the channels together so you double the output for maximum wattage. For example, if one channel is 120 watts, bridging it with another channel will make the total output power 240 watts. Make sure you check to see if your car amplifier supports bridging as not all do. To bridge a car amplifier for more output, simply add a speaker wire to the positive terminal on one channel and add the other speaker wire to the (-) on the other remaining channel.
Use a better car amplifier wiring kit. Not all car amplifier kits contain copper, if you have bought a ebay cheap car amplifier wiring kit, then also expect cheap sound. Cheap kits tend to carry more insulation than copper inside the cables. This results in poor electrical conductivity traveling from the car battery to your car amplifier, resulting in voltage drop. When this happens, your car amplifier will not produce the full power it is rated at. Always go for oversized wire and go for a car amp wiring kit that is bigger than what you need. Regardless, I always used a 4 gauge wiring kit, even if the car amp is only like 500 watts, just to ensure the car amplifier gets enough current and voltage to flow down it.
Use the bass boost feature on the car amplifier. The bass boost is a feature that allows you to increase the amount of bass your car subwoofer produces. They are usually set to a certain frequency, usually 60 HZ or 50 HZ to boost the output on the bass. The best way to tune is to turn up the volume to your desired listened level from the headunit and slowly increase the bass boost knob on the car amp and stop when you hear any kind of distortion. Many say that you should not use the bass boost feature in car audio, but if used correctly and not turned all the way up for the sake of it, it can actual help get more bass out of your car subwoofer.
