Underseat Subwoofer with built in amp - Avoid at all costs Find out Why!

Cheap underseat car subwoofer 5000 watts lol

If you're looking for more bass overall from your car audio system and you don't have a lot of space in your trunk, then options for adding an aftermarket car subwoofer can be limited. The first thing people consider if they want more bass is I have seen this amazing underseat subwoofer with a built in amplifier on the internet, it is an 1000 watts and the bass will be gobsmacking.

Well let me tell you my experience with underseat subwoofers, if you can avoid them at all costs and fit a proper small 8 or 10 inch car subwoofer that is the better option. Yes, it will cost more and bear in mind, it will also sound a lot better too. If your on a budget and don't have much money to spare for an good sounding car audio system, then an underseat subwoofer with an built in amp will work but you won’t be happy.

Underseat subwoofers that claim to be 1000 watts or more are just saying that to sell you their product. How can a small thing such as that with a built in amplifier go under your seat be just as loud as an 1000 watt subwoofer in an separate enclosure and standalone amplifier fitted into the trunk. If you take 5 minutes to logically think about it, it technically isn’t possible. I fitted an underseat subwoofer to my van as an experiment and the overall experience was poor. The sound quality was below average, my stock car speakers had more midbass then the fake vibration sub bass produced by an underseat subwoofer. The enclosure is usually made from plastic so you will get lots of rattles when it is playing bass. This is a kids toys and if your into car audio don't consider it because you will be disappointed and wasting your money.

Underseat car subwoofers shouldn’t be called a subwoofer because in fact they don't play anything below 80HZ which is sub bass content found in music. They even struggles to play midbass, I have tried all the popular ones Kenwood Ksc SW11 underseat subwoofer and the inphase USW300, all they seem to do is vibrate your bottom which is not what something called a subwoofer should be doing. Underseat subwoofers will sell though because there is always somebody new to car audio wanting to try something out. Your better option would be to get a small 8 inch subwoofer in an sealed box on an 300 rms amplifier that is a proper sound system if space is an factor, you can still get good sound. This blog is all about real life experience and honesty and this is my honest opinion. It’s not about I don’t like this car audio brand or not, both inphase and kenwood make some cracking speakers.
