How To Replace a Blown & Burnt Out Car Amp Fuse

If you have noticed that your car amplifier is not powering on and the wiring connections, the power wire fuse inside the block is not blown, ground and remote wires are connected correctly, then its most likely that the fuse that protects your car amplifier, from getting burnout, is blown out. This can happen if an short circuit occurred, for example, if the power wire touched another power wire, then the fuse will get burned out, in order to protect your amp for frying up, causing an electrical fire and causing further damage to its inside components.

If you have removed the fuse from the amplifier and have checked it, by looking in the middle and seeing if the small, thin wire in the middle of the fuse is snapped, or there are burn marks that area, then the fuse is blown out and will need replacing, in order to making your car amplifier operate and work.

Some high powered car amplifiers, that draw lots of amps from your car's battery have multiple fuses, located on them, so make sure you check them all to find out which ones need replacing and which ones don't.

1) Once you have located all the bad fuses, head down to your local car audio shop or electronics shop and ask for replacement fuses, that are the same amps rating and same size, as the burnt out ones, you need to replace. Buying car fuses that have lower or higher amps rating, than the recommend fuse amp size by the manufacturer, will work fine, however it will not protect your amp, if anything goes wrong, which destroys the purpose of having a fuse.

2) Once you have got replacement fuses, then you can throw away the burnt out fuses, as they are useless. Next locate the fuse holder on your car amplifier, insert the fuse into the fuse holder, by holding the fuse in your hand and pushing it down, so the two pins on each side, go into the fuse holder. Repeat this step, for all the other fuses, if your amp has more than one fuse that need replacing.

3) Once you have installed the fuses, turn on the car's ignition, power on the car head unit, play the radio or a music track and the remote wire will send an voltage to the car amp to tell it to turn on and the car amplifier will turn on.
