How To Turn Down Bass From Car Subwoofer To a Lower Level

Now having a powerful car audio system is great for shows at car meets or impressing your mates by giving them a short demo of the bass. But on a daily basis you probably are not going to use all that power to get to work or to the local supermarket. Now you might be wanting to turn down the bass in your car from the subwoofers fitted into the trunk. You might want to do this if the amount of bass is getting too much for you to bear or its overpowering the mids and highs speakers in the front doors. The most convinient way is to adjust the bass using a fitted bass boost controller. It basically acts as a volume control that just comes from the sub, you can mount this near to the drivers seat perhaps near the steering wheel for quick access.

1) Use the subwoofer control option found on your car stereo. If you have installed a aftermarket pioneer, sony, alpine or kenwood headunit inside the settings you will find a special option just for the sub. This will allow you to turn it off and on or also giving you the ability to increase how loud you want it playing. Usually you can use the up and down arrows to increase or decrease the +DB of bass.

2) Getting into the Equalizer. You can also adjust the bass through the internal eq, however the only downfall is it will affect other areas of the sound system as well. This is because it controls other parts such as the front and rear speakers and also reduce the bass from them. The first adjustment that is usually labelled as 60HZ or near is the one that control the bass in your car. The other ones are for controlling the vocals and treble.

3) Turning the gain down lower. This is the most inconvenient method but its the most effective, it involves you to get access to your car amp, getting a screwdriver and adjusting the gain setting to a lower level. Now if you want to quickly turn it up again, you will need to park your car and open the trunk. This is why most people these days fit a small bass boost controller to have full main control of the amp for just the sub without heading to the back of the trunk all the time.
