How To Test Subwoofer Without An Car Amp

If you are wondering how to test a subwoofer without a car amp it can be done by using a fresh 9 volt battery. By doing this, you can determine if the subwoofer is blown or not by seeing if the cone moves upwards when connected and downwards when disconnected. If the cone doesn't move at all, its a big clue informing you that the second hand subwoofer is blown so dont end up buying it. Its always essential that you test your subwoofer even without a car amp if you are purchasing second hand used stuff. Some people list on Ebay or Gumtree that the subwoofer is working however its not been tested. So that way they are always in the right if you take the speaker home and test it in your car it doesn't work you can't get your money back, since they had it described as 'NOT TESTED'. So when going down the sellers home, just bring a brand new 9 volt battery for testing and some wire, no fancy multimeters and other tools are required.

This is literally the best way to check if the speakers are working without using a multimeter to see if it is blown immediately:

1) Connect the speaker wire to the terminals on the subwoofer, for testing a car subwoofer without an amp it doesn't matter which way they are connected.

2) Hold the speaker wire onto the positive terminal on the battery.

3) Look at the cone, grab the other wire and touch it against the negative terminal on the 9 volt square battery. If the subwoofer is fully working it will move up and down and make a slight noise.
