How To Fix Sony Car Stereo USB Not Supported Problem

If you have a Sony car stereo with USB support, then you can use a usb stick or related device and play music from it. Recently, we have noticed that many customers are having problems that there Sony car stereo radio says it is not supported when plugging in a USB memory stick. The reason why this happens is because its not formatted correctly. It needs to be in FAT 32 format for the Sony car stereo to fix the USB not supported problem, as the operating system is designed to read data in that way only.

1) Insert USB device into your computer.

2) Find it under My Computer.

3) Right click and select Format.

4) Select 'FAT 32' for file system.

5) Press the start button to begin the formatting process. It will literally take a couple of seconds.

6) All you now need to do is copy your favourite .mp3 format tracks onto the root so that the Sony car stereo reads data from it without any problems. This complete process should help fix any kind of Sony USB No Support or Not Working problems.

  1. I found that the Windows 8.1 formatting tool would not complete the FAT32 format on my 64 gig memory stick. It seemed like it was formatting, but would eventually produce an error stating that the Volume was too large. Apparently this is a Windows issue. I was able to do the format after downloading a 3rd party formatting tool called guiformat.exe from ridgecrop.co.uk. Probably any 3rd party formatting tool would work though. Sony needs to get with the 21st century. FAT32 came out in 1996.
