How To Wire Remote Wire For Amp To Fuse Box


If for some reason the remote wire on your headunit is not working or you are using a factory stereo, what you can do is connect the remote wire to the fuse box. Now the best fuse location to tap into is the radio. This is because it controls the power upon keying the ignition, so if you take the key out the car amplifier will also turn off at the same. Now you might be thinking to yourself that you can skip connecting a remote wire, well in fact you can't because the amp won't know when to turn on and off.

Now the best type of wire size that is recommend to use is 18 gauge as it will be more than suffcient However, if you have a look carefully in between your current RCA cable there should be a small remote wire sandwhiched in between thats already there, you might need to extend this to the location of the fuse. Now the best method that we apply when performing this modification to a customers car is by wrapping the wire around the fuse. Its not really ideal to permanently hardwire in because there will be a day in the future that you might want to take the system out and the wiring when it comes to selling the car.

1) Key off the cars ignition to stop all the power going to the cars electrics to stop anything going wrong during working on the vehicle.

2) Remove the radio fuse from the box. You might need to refer to the user handbook to locate this by looking on the printed on diagram.

3) Wrap the remote wire around one metal pin of the fuse at the top part.

4) Now place the fuse back into the holder.
