How To Clean Car CD / DVD Player Laser Lens


If you are having problems with your in car CD player reading your audio discs, you perhaps may consider to clean the laser lens internally. Each time you insert a disc, the bottom surface gathers a small amount of dust that gets transferred into the disc drive. After a couple of years of doing this, inside there will be dirt trapped inside on the laser lens. This is the electrical component that reads the music tracks from the shiny surface at the bottom of the CD. If this gets dirty it will be obstructed and will cause problems with reading the data The best way to clean it is using a special cleaning disc that you can buy for a couple of pounds. Its the safest way because it doesn't involve you to open up your car stereo, so there is no risk really of breaking anything and make matters worse than they are. The kits are all universal and work for cleaning both normal in car CD and DVD players.

How the cleaning disc works is there is a small brush at the bottom, when you apply liquid onto this and insert it in, the disc spins really fast and buffs the dirt particles from the disc. Its totally safe for you to use and will not damage anything. The results you can gain from doing this all depends on how well you perform this type of maintenance. 1) Apply a few drops of cleaning solution onto the small brush.

2) Insert the disc into the slot with the brush side facing down.

3) Press play on your car stereo and go through the tracks on. 

4) Give it a few minutes, when the track is playing the laser lens is getting cleaned at the same time.

5) Eject the cleaning disc and test to see if you have noticed it picking up discs quicker. If not repeat this until you gain some noticeable results.
